Biography

Lauve Metcalfe, M.S. is a corporate fitness trainer, certified wellness coach and an organizational health consultant. She is a founding member of the Board of Directors for the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion and a Founding Fellow and a member of the Health & Wellness Board of Advisors for the Institute of Coaching, a Harvard Medical School affiliate. Lauve has been on the faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine since 1993, currently as a Mentor Supervisor for the Integrative Health Coaching program, a part of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. She also served as the Associate Director of the Center for Physical Activity and Nutrition where she developed and implemented National Institutes of Health research projects involving weight loss, worksite wellness, childhood obesity, and the effects of exercise on bone mass and osteoporosis. Lauve is the author of Reshaping Your Body, Rethinking Your Mind, a book and correspondence course addressing weight loss, body image and self esteem, and is a co-author of The BEST Exercise Program for Osteoporosis Prevention.

Lauve’s experience in developing worksite and organizational health programs has taken her throughout the U.S., Canada, Germany, Brazil, Singapore and Japan. Her background includes positions as Vice President of Corporate Health Development for Canyon Ranch Developments, Director of Program Development for Campbell’s Institute for Health and Fitness, Campbell Soup Company, and Director of Health/Fitness for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Lauve was the Program Director of the Great American Workout at the White House for President and Mrs. Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Lauve is a past president of the National Fitness Leaders Association and the Association for Worksite Health Promotion. She was a special consultant to the U.S. Army-Europe on marketing and development of the “Fit to Win” wellness modules, and a member of the Pentagon’s U.S. Army Expert Civilian Task Force on Health Promotion. She is a recipient of the Winston Churchill Fellowship Commendation, and was a member of the 1986 championship team at the National Fitness Classic. Lauve received her Master of Science degree in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum Development of Health Promotion from Florida State University, and her Bachelor of Education is in Health and Physical Education from the University of Miami.
