Dr. Brian Sekula currently serves as President-CEO and founder of the Health Performance Institute. He has been involved in the health industry since 1990. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Houston. Prior to starting the Health Performance Institute, Brian was a college professor at the University of Houston, taught at the UT School of Public Health and worked at NASA-JSC. Dr. Sekula has been involved in the Health and Fitness industry for more than 25 years. His experiences range from conducting research at NASA, teaching and research at the University of Houston and UT School of Public Health to founding The Health Performance Institute. As President, his main focus in on implementing health improvement programs and working with small to midsize companies. Dr. Sekula has served as a Medical Wellness Advisor for the Association for the past 12 years. At the Health Performance Institute (HPI), Brian’s main function is to oversee continued growth of the company. HPI works with corporate clients and their employees to reduce medical insurance costs. They do this by implementing The Academy, a behavior modification program focused on food, sleep, stress and exercise. Over time, we have realized a 40% reduction in medication loads for our corporate clients on a pre- and post-basis. Brian is a native Texan, born in San Antonio and raised in South Texas. He is married with two daughters, both of which are heavily involved with club volleyball. In his spare time, Brian enjoys reading, food, hunting with his compound bow and woodworking.
